Naked Radish Recommendations for Juicing: Strainer & Spatula

You’ve prepared your green elixir of health, and it’s sitting in a stainless steel bowl.  Awesome, Step 1, done!  Now it’s time to separate the pulp from the juice. You do this by pouring the juice through a large mesh strainer into another trusty stainless steel bowl (we told you stainless steel bowls will become your healthy kitchen BFFs). While you’re straining your fresh juice, you’ll see a back up of juice in the strainer, simply swish the juice circularly inside the strainer and it will strain through.  Step 2, check!

Wait — not quite yet! You don’t want to waste even a drop of your delicious juice and there’s definitely more hiding in that pulp!  Using a spatula, push down on the remaining pulp sitting in the strainer until all the juice has been delivered into the bowl – now you’ve saved all the juice

Alternately, instead of using a spatula to make sure you get all your juice out of the pulp, you can go hippie style.  In place of the spatula, use the backside of your hand (make a fist, now loosen your hand, and push on pulp with hands from fingers to first knuckles).

Sole!! Healthy, detoxifying, Beautifying SALT!

Please Note: Commercially prepared salt (iodized salt) is NOT a health boosting food. It’s unhealthy because it’s “cleaned and purified” at extremely high temperatures by a process that forms a recrystalzation of the salt.  After being heated at such as high temperature, the salt is dried and chemicals such as moisture absorbers and anti caking agents are added. This is NOT something you want in your body and should never be used to make sole.

How to Make Sole:

  1. Create Sole by placing Himalayan Salt Crystals into a GLASS container with a plastic lid. Remember: NEVER use Common Table salt from the grocery store.
  2. Cover the pink salt crystals with water and let sit for about 2 hours. During this time, the salt crystals will begin to break down and dissolve into the water. This process is infusing and saturating the water with salt.
  3. After about 2 hours, check the mixture.  You want to have crystals remaining in the bowl. If all the crystals are dissolved, add more salt and let set another 2 hours.
  4. The Sole is ready when you still see crystals in the bowl.

IMPORTANT: The crystals will NOT break down all the way, which tells us that the water is at the correct 26% saturation level. You are now ready to use this salt in your water on a daily basis.

 How to Use Sole:

Once you’ve made your sole from the directions above, use a hard plastic or wooden spoon (avoid using a metal spoon or the sole may pull out unwanted minerals from the metal) to scoop 1 teaspoon of sole into 8 oz of water. Drink this daily – you’ll be surprised at how great it tastes! Really!

Note –you might want to start small with 1 or two drops and increase up to 1 to 2 teaspoons per day. It’s much better to consistently have 1 drop a day then 2 teaspoons a day occasionally – so focus on creating a habit.

One of the very first things you should invest in as you create your healthy home kitchen is a set of sturdy, multi-purpose cutting boards. They are a must have, and you’ll be surprised at how often you’ll  use them to chop veggies for a quick salad, prepare dinner entrees and sides,  slice and peel potatoes for a new recipe, and to get fruits and veggies ready for juicing –  the possibilities are endless.  Heck, your best bet is to just leave them ready to go on the counter at a moment’s notice!

You’ll just purchase a 32 oz. plastic spritz bottle, fill it with a bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide (you can easily pick-up this up at any supermarket or pharmacy), and use that to spritz your cutting board periodically. You can use this bottle for more than just cleaning your cutting boards: general kitchen cleaner, freshener, and disinfectant.

Great Scrubbing Brushes

You just bought your new juicer, right? Awesome. Trust us you’re going to love it and start noticing the health benefits right away. However, if you’re reading this, you’re either afraid of the clean-up process (keep reading because you don’t have to be) or you realized the hard way that the brush that came with your juicer ain’t all that and a bag of chips kale. The good news is there are some super cool, affordable brushes that will make the clean-up process simple, quick, and not feel like a total chore (we know you have a million other things to do). Since we’re masters at juicing (and the unavoidable clean-up process), we’ll show you how we do it.

The key to juicing clean up is using a firm, not too tiny brush. That’s why the brush that comes with your juicer makes cleaning the juicer 10X harder than it needs to be – the manufactures care about making a good juicer not a good brush. Firm brushes are the best for the job because they give you more than one way to maneuver them (making sure you easily get in every nook and cranny). The three brushes we recommend all fit the job perfectly.

The Libman Big Job Kitchen Brush is your main scrubbing brush. It’s awesome because it has two usable surfaces. The main head of the brush can be used for the first big sweep over the juice basket. Then the smaller and firmer part of the brush is perfect for getting any veggie fibers that didn’t come out with the bigger part of the brush. It may take a little elbow grease to remove stuck veggie fibers (you could even consider it part of your arm workout for the day), but it is super easy with this smaller firmer section of the brush.

Knives – Victorinox, the best in show!

Knives Knives Knives. This is such an important subject and it is absolutely critical that you select the right ones for your kitchen with all the chopping, slicing and dicing that takes place during your culinary adventures. Without the right knives in your kitchen, you will be as humbled as a carpenter without tools. This section is less about the exact knife to buy, although the two choices I have given you are top notch and very reasonably priced, and more about the type of knives you will need to get the job done.

Two knives are all you really need.

The first is the Victorinox 8 inch Chef’s Knife for hard and large vegetables and fruit…think carrots, sweet potatoes, pineapples and the like. The 8 inch Chef’s knife can be used for fine chopping herbs and onions like the chefs do. Check out this video for a quick lesson. : ) .

Sharpening Steel

How do I keep my knives sharp?

All quality knives require proper maintenance to keep them in perfect cutting shape. The best of edges will quickly dull if it strikes metal, glass, or Formica. A wooden cutting board makes the best cutting surface. And, if a slip occurs, a proper cutting board is safer for the user. Frequent use of a Victorinox sharpening steel will keep blades in tip top working condition. All straight-edge knives need steeling to keep their edges.
How to “Steel” a Knife

Steeling a Knife
1. Hold the steel firmly in your left hand with the guard positioned to stop the blade should it slip.
2. Hold the knife in your right hand and place on top part of steel as shown.
3. Raise back of blade one-eighth inch.
4. Now, moving the blade only, draw it across the steel in an arching curve, pivoted at your wrist. The blade tip should leave the steel about two-thirds of the way down.
5. Repeat the same action with the Blade on the bottom side of the steel. Always maintain the same pressure and angle on both sides of the steel.
6. Repeat five or six times.
How should I store my knives?

Safety is the biggest concern of storage, both to the user and to protect the knife’s edge. Choices include a knife magnet, knife block, drawer insets, and also individual knife protectors.

Goji Berry Protein Superfood Shakes + Nutrient Dense Trailmix Recipe


Berry Yummy

2 oz of Goji Berries soaked in 8 oz of water for 10 minutes to 24 hours

½ cup organic raspberries

½ cup organic blueberries


1 Orange divided in sections


Pour the Goji Berries WITH the soaking water into a blender. Add raspberries and blueberries. Blend for 30 seconds.


Touch of Tropical

2 oz Goji Berries soaked in 8 oz of water for 10 minutes to 24 hours

½ cup pineapple


Pour Goji Berries WITH the soaking water into a blender. Add ½ cup pineapple. Blend for 30 seconds.


Red Banana

2 oz Goji Berries soaked in 8 oz of water for 20 minutes to 24 hours

1 banana


Pour Goji Berries WITH the soaking water into a blender. Add 1 banana. Blend for 30 seconds.

Goji Berry Homemade Trail Mix

This is the perfect nutrient dense snack on the go and so easy to make!


1 cup sunflower seeds

1 cup almonds

½ cup cashews

½ cups walnuts

1 cup coconut flakes

1 cup Goji Berries

1 cup cacao nibs

½ cup dried apples or apricots cut into pieces

½ tsp Himalayan Sea Salt on top
